Rustic Wedding at Camp Kiwanee | Hanson, MA

The early spring day was warm down on the South Shore, and a gentle breeze from Maquan Pond steadily graced the lodge. Seated on the porch were all the people Katie and Jamie hold most dear, whom they had gathered for a camp wedding that was relaxed, intimate, and above all authentic to the life they’ve begun to build together. As we took in the scene, we were struck by how, by their very presence, this corner of nature already so lovely became something more. Here are some of our favorite images from the day.

Rustic Backyard Wedding | Westford, Massachusetts

If you’re looking for inspiration for a DIY, rustic backyard wedding, you’ll definitely find it here! (This wedding was featured on Rustic Wedding Chic, and ranked as one of their top weddings of 2015.) But even better than all the fun and beautiful details is how wonderfully this event represented Megan and TJ, and how they kept the focus on what was most important—their love, family, and having a wonderful time celebrating with their guests. Not to mention Daizy the dogdefinitely our favorite ring-bearer of 2015! In the bride’s words:

We wanted our wedding to be nothing but the epitome of the two of us. We wanted to honor and highlight all that we have been through, our memories and families—the things that have made us who we are as a couple.  First and foremost, we decided to have a backyard wedding at the house I grew up in, just like the wedding that my mother and late father had. The house that I grew up in, and that we were married at, was designed and built by my father. It is also the place where he had his final moments with us. It was the best venue to honor and be with my father on our special day.

Our planning was focused on making our wedding the best representation of us. My husband and I met working at his family’s business, a garden center, where we spent our time flirting while sorting and cleaning tables of flowers. We chose to have a very small garden ceremony with immediate family, and then invite other friends and family to the reception after. After the ceremony we left to read our own personal vows to each other privately. This was the best part of the entire day. We sat there, no photographer or guests present, and were able to take it all in. We read our vows, cried, laughed, and listened. As we sat in the woods down by a stream, we could hear the music and laughter surrounding us. We were caught between wanting to stay in that private moment just the two of us and wanting to jump right in and join the celebration.

We had the best day ever, and our guests won’t stop raving about our one of a kind wedding. With the help of our friend the DJ, and our awesome reggae band, guests were dancing until the morning. And our photographer did not miss a beat.
